reHabitar is an entrepreneurial venture dedicated to leveraging resources to generate high-impact investments by rescuing abandoned and underutilized properties in Guadalajara's Historic Center. Our main objective is to invest in, and manage properties to generate economic, social, and environmental benefits for the interest of people and the city. Another important objective of the venture is to generate and disseminate knowledge that contributes to the conservation and restoration of Guadalajara built heritage.
At reHabitar, we believe that the restoration and preservation of built heritage goes beyond rebuilding walls and ceilings; it's an opportunity to revitalize history, strengthen the identity of our spaces, and contribute to the creation of adequate housing and a more sustainable city. Our approach combines heritage preservation with innovative solutions, ensuring that each intervention respects the original character of the building while adapting it to current needs.
We are a group of Mexican professionals with extensive international experience in urban issues: architecture, urban planning, sustainable urban mobility, adequate housing, and public policy. Our projects are related to the restoration of the built heritage of Guadalajara's Historic Center, with a multidisciplinary approach and guided by four principles that are the foundation of conservation and restoration:
Responsible adaptation – any restoration and conservation activity on a heritage property must be carried out professionally, acting responsibly and respectfully not only for the property itself, but also with its surroundings.
Historical and cultural richness – Implement reparation, conservation, and restoration activities that highlight the historical and cultural richness of the property itself and its surroundings.
Respect for original materials and techniques – Develop repairs and conservation actions rather than replacing original materials.
Best practices – Learn from and utilize international best practices in the field of restoration and conservation of built heritage.
Our mission is to demonstrate that it is possible to bring historic buildings back to life without losing their essence. Through multidisciplinary and collaborative work, we seek to transform each space into a testament to resilience, beauty, and functionality. At reHabitar, we rebuild stories and connections to the city rather than rescuing buildings.
